WHAT IS BIO-CLEAN? BIO-CLEAN is an all-natural drain cleaner made from a unique combination of natural bacteria and enzymes that break down organic waste found in plumbing drains. Unlike chemical-based drain cleaners, BIO-CLEAN doesn't have any effect on inorganic materials such as plastic pipe and won't produce heat, fumes, or boiling. The bacteria used are natural, not genetically engineered, and the enzyme concentration is the strongest available on the market. Plus, it's safe for people, plumbing, and the environment. For keeping sewer and drain lines in top condition, there's no better product than BIO-CLEAN, and we're confident you'll love it too!
HOW DOES BIO-CLEAN WORK? BIO-CLEAN is a product that uses natural processes to break down organic waste that accumulates in plumbing systems. Its bacteria and enzymes work together to feed on grease, hair, soap film, and other organic waste, breaking down their large molecules into a size that the bacteria can ingest. When mixed with water, BIO-CLEAN starts working immediately as the enzymes quickly break down the waste on contact. The bacteria then multiply and spread throughout the plumbing system, consuming the organic matter. As the bacteria double in number every 30 minutes, the waste is gradually degraded until it is recycled into plant food.
GREAT FOR SEPTIC SYSTEMS!
BIO-CLEAN is a great solution for septic systems that are not operating as they should. Solids can build up and leach fields can become blocked due to the range of household chemicals that can disrupt or even kill the necessary bacteria for the system to function properly. This includes bleaches, detergents, food preservatives, and bowl cleaners. BIO-CLEAN can help restore the necessary bacteria and make the system more efficient. People on septic systems must be careful when selecting their cleaning products and look for biodegradable and non-chlorinated. Fortunately, there is now a wide range of green products on the market to make this easier.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:
How can such a small amount of BIO-CLEAN be effective in plumbing?
BIO-CLEAN is remarkably effective for plumbing due to its millions of bacteria in each spoonful. Each bacterium can consume its own weight in waste every minute, and its population can double every half hour – allowing it to spread to all areas of the drain system.
Will it work on a clog?
If the clog is caused by a biodegradable material, then yes, BIO-CLEAN treatments may be effective. However, it is more likely that the obstruction is caused by several feet of pipe that is filled with debris and waste. In this case, it is recommended to first use a mechanical cable to restore the flow, and then begin BIO-CLEAN treatments to remove any remaining waste build-up. For ongoing prevention, regular maintenance treatments are recommended.
How long will it take to see the results?
Some people can experience an improvement in just one or two days. However, it usually takes two to four weeks for the full effects to be seen. It's important to keep in mind that the initial five-day treatment is not sufficient to completely clear away the buildup. The amount of time it takes to finish the cleaning process depends on the type of material the buildup is composed of (grease, soap, hair) and the length of the drain pipes. Hair is the most difficult material to eliminate and thus takes the longest time."
Should the toilet be flushed after pouring BIO-CLEAN into the bowl?
Do not flush for 6-8 hours. The quart of mixture poured into the bowl pushes one quart of water and mixture out of the bowl into the stack. The enzymes and bacteria carried out in the quart leaving the bowl are deposited on the gook coating the pipe. In the following 6-8 hours they embed themselves in the gunk so that when the toilet is next flushed they will not be flushed out.
Aren’t chemical drain openers much stronger than BIO-CLEAN? Chemical drain openers may be stronger than BIO-CLEAN, but they are not as effective. Chemical drain openers are unable to climb the side walls of horizontal pipes because of gravity, and they flow quickly through vertical pipes, meaning they cannot remove much waste. In contrast, the live bacteria in BIO-CLEAN can go anywhere there is food, and they are able to remove the gunk that chemicals leave behind.
Does BIO-CLEAN contain any acid, lye, solvents, perfume or poisonous substances? No.
It’s best to apply Bio-Clean when drains won’t be used for 6 to 8 hours. (at bedtime for example) Apply Bio-Clean to each drain for 5 consecutive days to clean the drain and then use once per month as maintenance. Mixing Bio-Clean with warmwater works best.
Dosage Rates (scoop inside can is 1 tablespoon)
Sink / Bath Tub / Shower -1 tablespoon of BC mixed with 1 pint water
Floor Drain – 3 Tablespoons of BC mixed with 3 pints water
Garbage Disposal – 1 Tablespoon BC mixed with 1 pint water (while pouring into disposal turn on and quickly shut off so mixture gets thrown onto side walls where food particles accumulate)
Toilets – 2 Tablespoons BC mixed with 2 pints water. (Pour mixture into bowl. Then add 1 quart of warm water to the bowl to push some of the mixture through the trap and into the sewer line. Do not flush for several hours.
Septic Tank / Cesspool – Mix 2lbs of BC with 4 gallons of water. Add mixture directly to tank. If you cannot access the tank flush down toilet closest to the tank. Maintenance dosage – Flush 1 cup of BC per month down toilet. (This is not needed if drains are being treated monthly)
Drain Field – Mix 1lb of BC with 2 gallons of water for every 50 feet of drain field line. Apply directly to drain field through distribution box, vent pipes or clean out. Repeat the above dosage at 3 week intervals until 3 – 6 cans have been used.
RV’s & Boats – After first use of toilet add 2 tablespoons of BC. If odor is noticed between dumps, add 1 tablespoon Grey Water Tanks – After first use mix 2 tablespoons of BC with 2 pints of water and pour into shower drain.
Cat Box Odors – With every litter change sprinkle a thin layer of BC on the bottom of the pan, add kitty litter, then sprinkle a thin layer on top.
Outhouse – Mix ½ lb of BC with 1 gallon of water and pour on waste once per month.
Sewage Spill – Sprinkle a thin layer of BC on top and keep moist until waste is gone. Large spills may require several cans.
Grease Trap – Mix 1 can of BC with 2 gallons of water and add directly to trap or pour down drain leading to trap. Maintenance- For Traps 0 to 500 gallons add ½ cup of BC mixed with 1 gallon of water to a drain leading to trap everyday. For traps larger then 500 gallons use 1 cup of BC mixed with 1 gallon of water every day. (Ask about our 25lb bucket for commercial use)
Multi Story Buildings – Begin by treating the drains on the lowest floor of a commercial building, such as an apartment complex, in a 5-day purge. Once that floor is complete, move up to the next floor and repeat the process. Continue moving up a floor after each 5-day purge until all the floors in the building have been treated. This method of treating the drains in a building helps reduce the risk of clogs or blockages occurring during the treatment process. If a blockage does occur, try plunging the drain to dislodge any loose material that may be causing the issue. This is unusual, but it can be a sign that the organisms in the Bio-Clean product are working.
