A drain that clears briefly and backs up again needs a closer look at both the obstruction and the condition of the line. Gulfview Plumbing & Water Treatment offers hydro-jetting and pipe descaling for homes and businesses in Pinellas County. Hydro-jetting includes a video camera inspection before and after cleaning. We use the initial inspection to assess the line and plan the work, then check the results with the camera after cleaning. We explain the recommended service and price before you decide.

What hydro-jetting does
Hydro-jetting uses specialized equipment to direct pressurized water through a drain or sewer line. The purpose is to remove buildup and debris from the line being serviced. It is a cleaning method, not a replacement for repairing damaged piping. The technician determines an appropriate approach for the system and the findings.
Hydro-jetting or drain snaking?
Cable cleaning, often called snaking or rooter service, uses a cable and an appropriate tool to work on a blockage. Hydro-jetting uses water delivered through a hose and nozzle. Tool selection matters for both methods: cable equipment can address different obstructions, while water jetting can be useful for grease, sludge, and similar buildup. Neither method is automatically the right choice for every drain.
Ask what the technician has found, whether the pipe condition and access support the proposed method, and what the cleaning scope includes. Recurring trouble can require further investigation or repair rather than repeated cleaning. For general equipment examples, see RIDGID drain-cleaning systems; this is background information, not a promise about the equipment assigned to your appointment.
Pipe descaling and chain knocking
Hardened deposits inside a drain or sewer pipe can contribute to recurring clogs. Mechanical descaling uses specialized tools, such as a chain knocker or scraper, to loosen stubborn buildup. Hydro-jetting uses pressurized water to flush buildup and debris from the line. Depending on the pipe material, condition and access, we may recommend one method or a combination.
We explain which cleaning methods your estimate includes and review the findings with you. Descaling cleans the pipe; it does not repair cracks, breaks or other structural damage. If the inspection reveals a repair need, we discuss your options before additional work begins.
When to discuss hydro-jetting
Discuss this service when stoppages keep returning, a previous inspection identified buildup, or a commercial property needs a planned drain-maintenance scope. Tell us whether only one fixture is slow or several fixtures are backing up. Those situations may involve different parts of the drainage system and should not automatically receive the same service.
Cleaning, camera inspection, or repair?
These services answer different questions. Drain clearing addresses a stoppage. A camera inspection helps document visible conditions inside accessible piping. Hydro-jetting addresses buildup within the agreed line. A broken or otherwise unsuitable pipe may need repair or replacement instead. Review the findings and proposed next step rather than assuming that stronger cleaning will solve every recurring problem.
Our drain and sewer guide explains local stoppages, main-line backups, camera inspections, and repair considerations.
Access and the proposed scope
An accessible cleanout provides an entry point into the line. If a suitable cleanout is missing or cannot be used, discuss access work and its cost before authorizing service. We identify which line is included and explain any fixture branch-line exclusions. Hydro-jetting includes before-and-after video camera inspections; ask separately about receiving a recorded video copy.
For a business, share operating hours, tenant or customer access, and any planned shutdown. Ask what preparations are needed, how the work area will be handled, and what interruption to plumbing use is expected. Scheduling is confirmed with Gulfview; a maintenance request is not a guarantee of a particular arrival time.
Sewer hydro-jet cleaning starting at $1,995
Includes a video camera inspection before cleaning, hydro-jet cleaning of the sewer line to remove buildup and debris, drainage testing, and a second video camera inspection after cleaning to review the results and identify any further cleaning or repairs needed. Confirm the included line, suitable access and pipe condition before approval. Additional access work or repairs require a separate scope and price.
This starting service is separate from the more extensive home and commercial packages below. It does not include every drain in the property or promise to correct damaged piping. Drain cleaning and sewer stoppages carry no warranty; testing documents operation at the time of service.
One-bathroom home package
Main-sewer hydro-jetting and camera inspection for a one-bathroom home: starting at $3,600. Includes camera inspections before and after cleaning, two hydro-jetting passes, a scraper head or chain knocker to loosen debris, ground-level or first-floor toilet removal and reinstallation for access, and an accessible cleanout if required.
This package covers the main sewer system. Branch lines serving individual fixtures are excluded unless listed in your estimate. Gulfview checks flow and reviews the camera findings after cleaning. Additional passes, cleaning, or repairs need a separate quote and your approval. Confirm the property layout, access, and agreed scope before scheduling. Drain cleaning and sewer stoppages carry no warranty.
Commercial pricing example
Our listed commercial main-sewer hydro-jetting service with an existing accessible cleanout starts at $3,500. This scope includes a video inspection of the entire main line, flow testing, and a post-jetting video check. Fixture branch lines are excluded. This is a commercial scope example, not a quoted price for every property or for residential work.
Final pricing depends on the agreed scope, access, line conditions, additional diagnostics, and any cleanout installation or repair work. Ask for the estimate that applies to your property. See commercial plumbing for other inspection and maintenance options.
After cleaning
After hydro-jetting, we check flow and perform the included follow-up video camera inspection. We review the findings with you and explain whether more cleaning or a repair is recommended. Any additional work needs a separate estimate and your approval. Recorded video copies are discussed separately.
Recurring maintenance
Some properties benefit from a recurring maintenance plan based on the system and its history. Discuss the actual causes of repeat stoppages, the line to be serviced, and the recommended interval with Gulfview. No fixed schedule suits every property, and routine cleaning does not eliminate every possible future blockage.
Does hydro-jetting carry a warranty?
Drain cleaning and stoppage clearing do not carry a warranty. Flow and operation are tested at the time of service. This differs from warranty coverage that may apply to separately approved repair work and qualifying materials furnished by Gulfview.
