A Rheem tank booster heater is a compact electric heater connected to a storage water heater’s hot-water outlet. It adds heat as the water leaving the tank cools, helping extend usable hot-water delivery. It supplements the tank rather than replacing it.
When might a booster help?
A booster may be worth considering when a serviceable tank struggles with back-to-back showers or a larger tank will not fit. Results depend on the selected model, incoming water temperature, flow rate and household demand; it does not guarantee unlimited hot water.
Check the existing system first

Inside a conventional electric tank heater
Electric-resistance elements supply heat to stored water, while thermostats or electronic controls regulate operation. Some models have two elements, but their operating sequence depends on the design. An anode rod is part of the tank’s corrosion-protection system; it is not a substitute for a water-treatment system. A short hot-water supply does not prove that a particular element or thermostat has failed. Have the model, symptoms and service history ready for a qualified technician. Do not remove electrical covers, test live wiring or replace operating controls based on a general website explanation. Ask which component was tested, what the findings mean and whether the recommended repair addresses the cause.

Already purchased your own electric tank water heater?
Installation of a customer-supplied electric tank water heater: starting at $1,050. You provide the water heater; the equipment price is not included. The installation includes removal and haul-away of the existing heater. Required additional components, such as a drain pan, isolation shutoff valve or thermal expansion tank/device, are supplied and installed at an additional cost identified in the estimate. Final scope and price depend on the selected unit, site conditions, applicable code and manufacturer requirements.
This starting price is for customer-supplied electric tank equipment, not a Gulfview-supplied heater package, gas installation, hybrid installation or tankless conversion. Gulfview installation workmanship and materials we supply carry two-year residential or one-year commercial coverage. Customer-supplied equipment and materials, existing plumbing, fixtures and valves are excluded; manufacturer coverage is separate. Labor charges apply after Gulfview coverage expires.
What affects the cost?
Pricing depends on diagnosis, equipment type and size, materials, accessibility, the condition of existing connections and the work required for the installation. A tank-to-tankless conversion may involve a different scope from replacing an existing unit. Request an estimate that identifies what is included. Maintenance and warranty questions
Maintenance should follow the instructions for your specific model and account for the system condition and water quality. Regular tankless flushing and descaling is $395 for one water heater. Active VIP members receive this service for $225 during their annual home inspection; it cannot be combined with other discounts. Our general residential policy provides a two-year parts and labor warranty on qualifying materials furnished by Gulfview. A one-year warranty applies to qualifying commercial work where applicable. Customer-supplied materials are excluded. Manufacturer warranties have their own terms; confirm the coverage for your equipment and the proposed work when reviewing the estimate.

How do I choose the right water heater size?

A storage water heater’s first-hour rating estimates how much hot water it can deliver during an hour that starts with a fully heated tank. It is different from the tank’s storage capacity. Should I buy a replacement before calling?
You do not need to. Gulfview can help you select a water heater, furnish it and install it. Why can two water heater estimates be different?
Compare the equipment and work included, not just the total. One proposal may cover a different model, different connections or additional installation work. Check whether the heater is furnished by the plumber or supplied by you, and look at the stated warranty and exclusions. Our starting prices distinguish those arrangements so you are not comparing an installation-only price with a supplied-and-installed package.
Your property also matters. Access to the existing water heater, the condition of its connections and the selected replacement can affect the scope. We explain those details in the estimate. Can we discuss repair before deciding to replace it?
