Water Shutoff Valves

A leaking, stuck or unreliable water shutoff valve is worth addressing before you need it in a hurry. Gulfview Plumbing & Water Treatment supplies and installs manual shutoff valves and automatic systems in Pinellas County. We help you choose an option for your property. We assess your piping and access, explain the options and provide a clear scope before work begins.

Know which valve serves what

Ask a plumber to identify the property main shutoff and relevant fixture shutoffs, explain what each controls and show how to use the appropriate valve safely. Keep that information with your home records. A shared building system, a water-heater connection and a fixture supply may require different procedures; do not assume one instruction applies to every valve.

Utility-owned meter valves and equipment are not the same as a customer-operated property shutoff. Ask your water provider about its equipment and responsibilities. For a condo, rental or shared system, confirm access and authorization with the responsible property manager before planned work.

When a valve needs attention

Tell us about visible leakage, corrosion, a damaged handle or a valve that has previously failed to stop water. Do not force a stuck valve or use extra leverage to see whether it will move. An inspection can establish the condition, access needs and proposed repair or replacement.

For planned service, we explain which fixtures or units will lose water and coordinate the access needed for the work. Your estimate identifies what is included. We also explain how the valve operation and connections will be checked before the job is complete.

Main water shutoff furnished and installed starting at $375

Includes a quarter-turn brass ball valve for compatible 1/2-inch to 3/4-inch piping and installation labor. The valve can serve as a main water shutoff or an isolation valve for part of the water system. Excavation needed to reach existing piping or the valve costs extra.

Confirm pipe size, access and the full scope before approval. Larger valves, automatic systems and additional work are separately priced. Gulfview-furnished work and materials carry a two-year residential or one-year commercial warranty; existing plumbing and customer-supplied items are excluded. Manufacturer terms apply separately.

Choosing an automatic water shutoff valve

We can help you select an automatic water-shutoff system and furnish it for the installation. We review the proposed model, piping, location and service access, along with the manufacturer’s power and network requirements. You do not need to buy a device before calling; we can discuss a suitable installation plan first.

Ask how that specific system detects a concern, which alerts and shutoff functions are included, what happens if power or internet service is lost, and how manual operation works. Confirm any app account, subscription or maintenance requirements with the manufacturer. A device is not a guarantee against every leak or every kind of water damage.

Flo by Moen supplied and installed: starting at $1,650

Includes a 3/4-inch Flo by Moen smart water monitor and automatic shutoff valve on the accessible main cold-water supply, the power adapter, standard connection materials and installation labor. This is a Gulfview-furnished device, not a customer-supplied installation price.

The installation requires an accessible location after the meter, main shutoff and pressure regulator when present, continuous power within adapter reach, reliable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and a compatible smartphone for activation. The location must meet the supplied model’s requirements.

Pressure-regulator work, bypass or isolation valves, a new surge-protected outlet, shutoff labeling and homeowner training, and smart-home or security integration are additional only when needed or selected and approved. Larger sizes and work beyond the stated scope are separately priced. Confirm the complete proposal before installation; manufacturer warranty and optional protection plans are separate from Gulfview’s coverage.

Agree on setup and ongoing care

Before installation, clarify who provides the equipment, who completes app setup, which settings need your approval and how you will learn normal operation. Keep the model instructions and ask about testing and care for that device. Do not rely on a generic online instruction to disable protections or change detection settings.

For customer-supplied equipment, confirm compatibility before scheduling. Customer-supplied materials are excluded from Gulfview’s general material warranty; ask which installation and manufacturer terms apply. Qualifying Gulfview-furnished residential materials carry a two-year parts and labor warranty, subject to the scope and applicable exclusions.

Discuss your property

Have your address, valve or device details, observations and any building-access requirements ready. Our home plumbing checklist helps you prepare. For active water loss or unexplained moisture, review leak investigation; an automatic valve is not a repair for an existing plumbing defect.
